I trained in the Business Services group of a big four accountancy firm starting in farms department in 1999 before attending Reading University, 2000-2003. On my return in 2004 I worked for the Business Services department where I specialised in working on food producing clients. This ranged from small partnerships accounts preparation and tax advice to large multinational company audits.
Working in Business Services also gave me exposure to other businesses and I also have experience in the manufacturing and service sectors. I particularly enjoy advisory work whether that be new business start ups or producing management accounts for large businesses.
I also have significant experience in helping businesses simplify their accounting function to provide better and cheaper information for management and accountants alike.
I believe it is healthy to be directly involved at the 'coal-face of enterprise' and I do have business interests outside the practice, first with the family farm, then in 2010 I put together a seven figure proposal to purchase my father-in-law's holiday cottage business and most recently as founder and CEO of Push Energy. This keeps me openly involved in the pressures facing a modern businesses, and allows me to relate directly to clients.
